Founder / Producer
Mel Leon (she/they) is a Toronto-based actor, writer, and producer, and the co-founder of Glitter Theory Media. With a BFA in Acting from the University of Victoria, Mel has spent over a decade performing in indie and classical theatre, cultivating a deep love for language, physical storytelling, and all things gloriously non-linear.
Their move into producing was sparked by a desire to create the kinds of stories they weren’t seeing on screen—queer, polyamorous, sex-positive narratives told with nuance, curiosity, and cinematic depth. Mel’s creative work lives at the intersection of the mystical and the emotional, drawn to the gut feelings, ancestral echoes, and moments of magic we can’t explain but know to be true.
They wrote and co-produced The Unicorn, Glitter Theory's first short film, and are now developing original work for film and television that blurs boundaries, embraces complexity, and reimagines what visibility can look like.
